Obsessing

….Do we believe that we create our own insecurities? Are we the type of people who gets stuck on an issue and ”blow it” out of proportion? How often do we go over and over something in our head, fearing the worst and actually creating more of a problem than there was to start with?
….Once we begin the obsessing in our heads around the possible outcome of a situation, we become trapped inside our mind. Sleep becomes impossible for our mind begins to race as soon as we put our head onto the pillow. Every dark thought we can conjure(bring) up enters into us about what could happen. Because we become SO negative about the situation that we are in, our life energy is barely functioning. Without sleep, we are at the mercy of our mind.
….Getting sleep is the first step in our healing process. When it becomes impossible to sleep and the ruminating(going over and over things) continues we actually make things worse. Now a cycle begins; first we do not sleep and then with the negative energy that the lack of sleep creates our mind can easily get out of control without a filter in place. Obsession takes over and our day is filled with fear and worry which creates the inability to sleep.
….The first step to calming down is to accept the fact that we cannot control TOMORROW. This is extremely difficult for we automatically go to the future and predict outcomes. We CANNOT CONTROL THE FUTURE! Telling our mind this will begin to calm things down. Next put the facts of the situation in front of us so we can see what is real and what our mind is creating. Write it down if you need to. Talk to someone else about what is going on. Do not leave yourself alone for your mind will certainly begin it’s destructive process. Force yourself to stop obsessing, whatever it takes, listen to calming music if need be, but tell ourselves we will get through this, WE WILL!
